The pair were discussing Ed Miliband\u2019s controversial GB Energy, which has been given Parliamentary backing.<\/p>\n

Martin grilled Read on when we can expect to see lower energy bills – adding it was \u201cpromised\u201d.<\/p>\n

Read accused Martin of having an agenda, pointing to GB News as an institution.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe energy companies are ripping us off\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cRather than criticise renewable energy, go to the companies ripping off ordinary taxpayers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Martin said: \u201cLet\u2019s think about that. Chris O\u2019Shea is the CEO of Centrica, British Gas\u2019 parent company. He said today \u2018net zero will definitely not reduce the price of electricity\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Read said Centrica is not likely to \u201ctell the truth\u201d as they are one of the companies he refers to, before he took a swipe at the People\u2019s Channel.<\/p>\n

\u201cGB News isn\u2019t going to tell you truth\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cStop playing the man and play the ball\u201d, Martin hit back. \u201cPeople care about cheap energy. We were told our bills would be \u00a3300 better off by Ed Miliband at the election and they are going up, up and up.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t have a go at me, don\u2019t have a go at GB News. Where is the evidence to deliver on the promise you lot made?\u201d<\/p>\n

Read hit back, saying Martin is a \u201chypocrite\u201d for reversing the personal attacks.<\/p>\n

Read argued: \u201cYour channel has no integrity. You have no integrity\u201d, before Martin accused him of being unable to answer the question.<\/p>\n

\u201cRenewable energy is consistently the cheapest form of energy in this country. Wind is the cheapest by far\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNuclear is way more expensive and fossil is way more expensive.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen do our bills go down then?\u201d, Daubney responded. He continued: \u201cNext year? Next decade? Before unicorns fly?\u201d<\/p>\n

The Great British Energy Bill has now passed through Parliament, establishing the UK’s state-backed energy firm despite opposition criticism.<\/p>\n

Conservative shadow energy security secretary Claire Coutinho lambasted the bill for its brevity, saying: “This Bill is four pages long.<\/p>\n

There’s barely anything in it.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, GB Energy has announced its first major investment, with \u00a38.5 million allocated to install solar panels at hospitals in the Humber region.<\/p>\n

This forms part of the government’s broader renewable energy strategy.<\/p>\n

Energy Secretary Ed Miliband visited a solar farm in Hull that powers Castle Hill Hospital, praising the innovation that saves the facility \u00a3200,000 monthly on energy bills.<\/p>\n
