An investigation is underway after reports of a rape following an unknown intruder breaking into a house in Fallowfield. The incident was reported on Furness Road at around 3.13am on Thursday (June 25).<\/p>\n
Police were informed that there was a suspected intruder at an address. A man, 28, was then located inside the house by responding officers and arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary. He was later further arrested on suspicion of rape.<\/p>\n
Local councillor Jane Doswell said she was ‘deeply concerned’ following the incident and will be having a briefing with Greater Manchester Police.<\/p>\n

Detectives are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the probe.<\/p>\n “We would like to reassure the community that this is believed to be an isolated incident. A scene remains in place, with a visible police presence in the area,” a statement read.<\/p>\n “To protect the privacy of the victim and their loved ones, we ask that people do not speculate about the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact police directly. Officers will remain on Furness Road, and anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak to them.”<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Detective Inspector Mark Astbury from the City of Manchester CID said: \u201cOfficers will remain in the area as enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding this frightening incident.<\/p>\n \u201cWe understand this will be concerning for the local community, however we would like to reassure people that we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this investigation. Our priority is, and always will be, the victim.
