{"id":105412,"date":"2025-05-16T05:11:11","date_gmt":"2025-05-16T05:11:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/105412\/"},"modified":"2025-05-16T05:11:11","modified_gmt":"2025-05-16T05:11:11","slug":"man-broke-into-glasgow-flat-and-stole-cash-bank-card-apple-watch-and-audi-keys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/105412\/","title":{"rendered":"Man broke into Glasgow flat and stole cash, bank card, Apple watch and Audi keys"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man broke into a Glasgow flat and took a list of items, including an Apple watch and Audi keys.<\/p>\n<p>Howard Fitzpatrick appeared in court last week after he admitted to stealing from\u00a0a home on Dumbarton Road and\u00a0being in possession of cannabis on January 17, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>He also admitted to having been found in the curtilage of three different Glasgow addresses between October 13 and 18, 2023, so that it may be inferred he was intending to commit thefts.<\/p>\n<p>The court heard in relation to the first charge that the resident of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/topics\/property\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:property;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">property<\/a> left his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/topics\/west-end\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:West End;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">West End<\/a> home at 11am, locking his front door.<\/p>\n<p>But when he came back 9.30pm, his home was in a state of disarray.<\/p>\n<p>Going in, he saw items missing. This included\u00a0cash in three currencies: \u00a3285, \u00a5362 (Chinese currency) \u2013 roughly \u00a337.7 and \u00a51000 (Japanese yen)\u2013 around \u00a0\u00a35.1.<\/p>\n<p>Also missing were a Bank of Scotland card, an Apple watch and keys to his Audi.<\/p>\n<p>Police were notified and carried out an investigation. As part of this, neighbours provided a description of a man they saw.<\/p>\n<p>Cops searched\u00a0the local area at 10.55pm and found Fitzpatrick, matching the description.<\/p>\n<p>The cash, bank card, watch and keys\u00a0were all recovered.<\/p>\n<p>Also, small bags of cannabis were found on the 51-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>The items were returned to the owner and Fitzpatrick was arrested.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ NEXT:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/news\/25156140.he-valued-man-carer-busted-2k-cannabis-home\/?rel=cl_mra\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:&#039;He is a valued man&#039;: Carer busted with more than \u00a32k of cannabis at home;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">&#8216;He is a valued man&#8217;: Carer busted with more than \u00a32k of cannabis at home<\/a><\/p>\n<p>At the hearing, the Partick man appeared from custody.<\/p>\n<p>Sheriff Vincent Lunny remarked: &#8220;He said he doesn&#8217;t remember how he got there. He stole a significant number of items.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>His lawyer explained: &#8220;All that I would say is that he had 27 custodial sentences for his previous convictions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He has not had an easy life. He was looked after as a child and he struggled with homelessness. He has used opioids.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;More custody will cause him to lose his housing, which is probably the only stabilising aspect of his life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He also emphasised that all stolen objects were recovered.<\/p>\n<p>The sheriff said: &#8220;This is a serious crime and invasion of privacy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Enough is enough. I have tried for the best part of a year.
