{"id":1056430,"date":"2026-06-29T00:10:17","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T00:10:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1056430\/"},"modified":"2026-06-29T00:10:17","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T00:10:17","slug":"peter-safran-still-confident-in-dcu-strategy-after-supergirl-b-o","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1056430\/","title":{"rendered":"Peter Safran Still &#8220;Confident&#8221; In DCU Strategy After &#8216;Supergirl&#8217; B.O."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAlthough <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/supergirl\/\" id=\"auto-tag_supergirl\" data-tag=\"supergirl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Supergirl<\/a> has failed to soar with its opening weekend, the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/dcu\/\" id=\"auto-tag_dcu\" data-tag=\"dcu\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DCU<\/a> still has some tricks in store for moviegoers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tFollowing the Craig Gillespie-helmed movie\u2019s premiere, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/dc-studios\/\" id=\"auto-tag_dc-studios\" data-tag=\"dc-studios\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DC Studios<\/a> co-CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/peter-safran\/\" id=\"auto-tag_peter-safran\" data-tag=\"peter-safran\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Peter Safran<\/a> admitted the title didn\u2019t live up to the Warner Bros. banner\u2019s \u201cbox office expectations\u201d against its reported $175M budget.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cWhile Supergirl didn\u2019t meet our box office expectations, it\u2019s just one component of a broader, long-term strategy at DC Studios that we remain confident in,\u201d Safran told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/06\/28\/business\/media\/supergirl-box-office.html?smid=url-share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe DCU\u2019s upcoming slate includes director James Watkins\u2019 Clayface, premiering Oct. 23 in theaters, followed by DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn\u2019s Man of Tomorrow, which is set for July 9, 2027.
