Question:<\/b> Mr President, you have held a\u00a0meeting with the\u00a0heads of\u00a0Russia\u2019s
\nlargest oil companies to\u00a0discuss the\u00a0situation on\u00a0the\u00a0fuel market. In\u00a0your
\nassessment, how much damage are the\u00a0enemy\u2019s strikes on\u00a0our energy infrastructure and\u00a0industrial facilities causing?<\/p>\n
And\u00a0another very important issue: what is the\u00a0situation with energy supplies to\u00a0Crimea and\u00a0Sevastopol?<\/p>\n
President
\nof\u00a0Russia Vladimir Putin:<\/b><\/b> As\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0attacks on\u00a0critical infrastructure
\nin\u00a0general, and\u00a0energy infrastructure in\u00a0particular, they are, of\u00a0course,
\ncreating problems. That is obvious. We are currently seeing certain shortages,
\nalthough they are not critical, as\u00a0I\u00a0will explain. There are several tasks we
\nneed to\u00a0address, and\u00a0we have just discussed them.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0first
\nis to\u00a0rapidly and\u00a0significantly increase production of\u00a0the\u00a0air defence systems
\nthat are most in\u00a0demand. We must also continue improving them in\u00a0line with the\u00a0requirements of\u00a0combat operations and\u00a0the\u00a0protection of\u00a0key facilities, taking
\ninto account the\u00a0capabilities the\u00a0enemy is deploying, including the\u00a0new
\nunmanned aerial vehicles with advanced technologies being supplied from Europe.
\nWe already have these defensive systems. The\u00a0challenge is to\u00a0accelerate their
\nproduction and\u00a0delivery, whether to\u00a0the\u00a0armed forces or\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0protection of\u00a0critical
\ninfrastructure.<\/p>\n
It is also
\nclear what needs to\u00a0be done to\u00a0ensure stable fuel supplies and\u00a0eliminate the\u00a0temporary
\nshortages that have arisen. Repairs must be completed more quickly, the\u00a0necessary level of\u00a0imports must be secured and, as\u00a0I\u00a0have already said, these
\nfacilities must be reliably protected.<\/p>\n
We also
\nneed closer coordination among all the\u00a0agencies and\u00a0levels of\u00a0government
\ninvolved in\u00a0repelling drone and\u00a0missile attacks on\u00a0our infrastructure and,
\nabove all, in\u00a0protecting people. The\u00a0top priority is safeguarding civilians and\u00a0minimising damage to\u00a0the\u00a0economy, individual industries and\u00a0industrial
\nproduction. As\u00a0I\u00a0have said, there has been damage, but all affected facilities
\nare being quickly restored, and\u00a0the\u00a0problems that arise are not critical.
\nEverything is operating steadily and\u00a0with a\u00a0substantial margin of\u00a0resilience.<\/p>\n
As\u00a0for\u00a0energy supplies to\u00a0Crimea, the\u00a0Minister has informed me that the\u00a0region’s monthly
\nrequirement is 70,000 tonnes. Current reserves in\u00a0Crimea are sufficient for\u00a0several
\ndays, but all demand will be met. We will continue increasing deliveries both overland and\u00a0by\u00a0sea. I\u00a0am confident
\nthis task will be accomplished.<\/p>\n
More broadly,
\nI\u00a0would like to\u00a0stress that the\u00a0strikes on\u00a0our civilian infrastructure are intended not only to\u00a0inflict damage on\u00a0us\u00a0\u2013 although
\nI\u00a0believe that is certainly one of\u00a0the\u00a0enemy\u2019s objectives\u00a0\u2013 but also to\u00a0fuel an\u00a0information campaign, or\u00a0perhaps more accurately, an\u00a0information operation as\u00a0part of\u00a0the\u00a0broader confrontation with Russia. At\u00a0a\u00a0minimum, its purpose is to\u00a0undermine our confidence in\u00a0ourselves and\u00a0our capabilities and, ideally, to\u00a0create divisions within Russian society, force Russia to\u00a0suspend, even temporarily,
\nthe\u00a0advance of\u00a0our forces along the\u00a0line of\u00a0contact and\u00a0create conditions for\u00a0launching
\nnegotiations on\u00a0terms favourable to\u00a0our adversary.<\/p>\n
We will not
\ngive them that opportunity. It is all the\u00a0more important to\u00a0understand that
\nthese terrorist attacks have no impact whatsoever on\u00a0the\u00a0situation at\u00a0the\u00a0front. That is the\u00a0key point. No matter where these strikes are carried out
\nagainst our infrastructure, they have absolutely no effect on\u00a0the\u00a0situation on\u00a0the\u00a0frontline, along the\u00a0line of\u00a0contact.<\/p>\n
