Illan Meslier could be set for a shock move to Arsenal following his release from Leeds United.<\/a><\/p>\n

That\u2019s according to BBC Sport<\/a> who claim the Premier League champions have a \u2018strong interest\u2019 in the 26-year-old who yesterday left Elland Road after seven seasons.<\/a><\/p>\n

The goalkeeper\u2019s contract ended on June 30<\/a> and as of today he is a free agent \u2013 and one who has spent virtually all of his senior career with Leeds.<\/p>\n

Meslier<\/a> signed from Lorient as a 19-year-old and went on to make 215 appearances for the Whites, including 107 in the top flight.<\/p>\n

However, none of those came last season as he was replaced by Lucas Perri and then Karl Darlow as he slipped down Daniel Farke\u2019s pecking order.<\/p>\n

Two weeks ago he took to social media to confirm his departure \u2013 and his express his gratitude to the club saying: \u201cLeeds will never leave me. This city, this club, this shirt; it\u2019s part of who I am now and always will be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Free to choose his next move the Gunners have emerged as an option as a back-up to David Raya, with uncertainty surrounding the future of Kepa Arrizabalaga.<\/p>\n
