Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn’s rematch is being eyed for September 27.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Eubank Jr<\/a> defeated Benn <\/a>via unanimous decision in a barnburning 12-round war at the Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> Stadium last month.<\/p>\n

Both parties signed contracts for a two-fight deal, and negotiations are progressing toward tying up the sequel at the scene of their inaugural encounter.<\/p>\n

“I know September 27, back at Spurs, is a date that he [Turki Alalshikh] has put forward and proposed,” Benn’s promoter Eddie Hearn<\/a> told Sky Sports.<\/p>\n

“We’re ready, really. We signed the contract for two fights.<\/p>\n

“Conor’s just desperate to run it back. He feels like he’s going to improve a lot going into that fight. <\/p>\n

“[It was] his first fight in 14, 15 months, at 160lbs.<\/p>\n

“Look, they provided us with just a night we’ll never forget in so many ways. <\/p>\n

“And both fighters deserve so much credit. We’d love to run it back.”<\/p>\n

The second-generation grudge match was initially planned to take place in October 2022.<\/p>\n

However, the event got cancelled 48 hours before the opening bell after Benn tested positive for the banned substance comifene in two pre-fight drug tests.<\/p>\n

He was subsequently slapped with a provisional suspension by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC).<\/p>\n

But he managed to fight twice under a US license after the National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP) briefly lifted his suspension in July 2023.<\/p>\n

The suspension was reinstated in May 2024, yet the NADP cleared Benn again, allowing his fight with Eubank Jr to be rescheduled on British shores.<\/p>\n

Amid the scandal, Eubank Jr changed the weight terms for the second fight from the initially agreed 157lbs catchweight to the 160lbs middleweight limit.<\/p>\n

However, the playing field was levelled for Benn, who had never fought above super welterweight (154lbs), via a 10lbs rehydration clause.<\/p>\n

Eubank Jr missed the 160lbs limit by half an ounce, incurring a \u00a3375,000 fine.<\/a><\/p>\n

He was able to make weight for the second day weigh-in, although he looked extremely gaunt on the scales, leading to concerns for his health.<\/p>\n
