Manchester United<\/a> manager Ruben Amorim<\/a> has pointed the blame for the club’s desperately disappointing season at his players.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils are coming to the end of their worst ever Premier League<\/a> campaign with the club sitting 16th in the table after just 10 wins in 36 games.<\/p>\n

Amorim took charge following the sacking of Erik ten Hag<\/a> in October but has failed to turn things around domestically, managing just six victories in 25 matches in the top flight.<\/p>\n

‘I am embarrassed that in 25 games, we have won six,’ Amorim told Sky Sports<\/a>. ‘Something is wrong with the way we are playing football.’<\/p>\n

‘Sometimes it is not about the way we play tactically, it is the way we face competition and suffer. When we get mad about losing.<\/p>\n

‘Everything we have been through, I have a clear picture and a clear feeling of what this team needs to be so much better.<\/p>\n

Amorim says there are more than just problems on the pitch when it comes to his team<\/p>\n

‘It is not just on the pitch, it is outside the pitch. We have all the conditions to be better.’<\/p>\n

Amorim added: ‘There are some things we cannot change in summer, the feeling in the club and the way we see it.<\/p>\n

‘The feeling that we cannot lose a match. We have to change that and not think about transfers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘That is more profound than changing people. We are doing that but people cannot see that.<\/p>\n

‘The way we work and the behaviour we have in the club. The things we cannot see, we are working on it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘We need to forget about the final and need to be better against Chelsea.’<\/p>\n

United face the Blues at Stamford Bridge on Friday night but most fans are looking ahead to next Wednesday’s Europa League final against Spurs, who have had a similarly disappointing league season.<\/p>\n

The winner of that showdown in Bilbao will end the season on a high with silverware and qualify for the Champions League, which will then improve their chances of adding quality in the summer.<\/p>\n

United will then face Aston Villa in their final game of the campaign and could still finish as high as 13th if they are to beat both them and Chelsea.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Their league form implies that the chances of that happening are slim, however.<\/p>\n

Amorim’s team come in to Friday’s clash in London without a win in their last seven Premier League encounters, losing five of those.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Harry Maguire agreed with his manager in a separate interview with the outlet, admitting the players should take accountability for the poor campaign.<\/p>\n

‘It\u2019s been really tough in the Premier League we can\u2019t hide away from that,’ Maguire said. ‘It’s been nowhere near good enough for this club.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘If you look at the table it’s embarrassing, especially for us players. We’ve got to take the responsibility because we’ve had two managers and loads of opportunities to win football matches and we just haven’t done it well enough this season.<\/p>\n

‘I think the last two months have been difficult because we’ve been in the Europa League and we haven’t played a settled team throughout the Premier League. The managers had to change a lot, we’ve had a lot of injuries.<\/p>\n

‘Although we should be doing a lot better… for example I can’t remember the last time I played 90 minutes in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Amorim will hope his players can take a positive result into their crucial Europa League final next Wednesday as they gear up to face Chelsea in the Premier League on Friday night<\/p>\n

‘We’ve got to take the blame because a club like man united should not have nothing to play for with two months left of the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘We’re sat in mid table with two months left of the season and we’ve got nothing to play for.<\/p>\n

‘That’s our fault, we’ve got to take responsibility. That’s unacceptable for sure, we’re at the blame and I know for a fact next season we will improve a lot.’<\/p>\n
