The launch of Pocket appears to be one manifestation of that idea, and it follows Meta hiring engineers from a company called Atma Sciences Inc., which made an <a href=\"https:\/\/gizmo.party\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">app called Gizmo<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/ex-snapchat-engineers-behind-gizmo-join-meta-superintelligence-labs-2026-3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">as Business Insider reported in March<\/a>. Meta got a non-exclusive license to use the company\u2019s technology, and based on screenshots of <a href=\"https:\/\/go.skimresources.com\/?id=1025X1701640&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fplay.google.com%2Fstore%2Fapps%2Fdetails%3Fid%3Dcom.facebook.gizmo\" rel=\"sponsored nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pocket on Google Play<\/a>, the app looks to be pretty similar to Gizmo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">\u201cScroll a feed of gizmos from people around the world,\u201d Meta says in Pocket\u2019s Google Play description. \u201cGizmos respond to your touch and the tilt of your phone. They play sound effects and your favorite songs. They can use your camera or pull in photos from your camera roll. Some can even reason about the world around them.\u201d On a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meta.com\/help\/pocket\/4433460963602094\/?srsltid=AfmBOorNgS4tfvrccNE0xiZwQCaKg-cZyoUxtKeI3NFtL214iZHcltSX\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">help center page<\/a>, Meta also describes a gizmo as a \u201cplayable AI-generated experience,\u201d and when you post one, Meta says you can choose to let other people remix them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">However, if you\u2019re in the US, it doesn\u2019t seem like you can download Pocket just yet. Two US-based Verge staffers saw a note on the Google Play listing that said the app \u201cisn\u2019t available in your country.\u201d I can\u2019t find the app on Apple\u2019s US App Store.
