A Midlothian<\/a> resident has shared their shock after looking out of their window to find their neighbour’s hedge ablaze.<\/p>\n

John McNulty, of Dobbies Road, Bonnyrigg, noticed smoke rising into the sky opposite his home at around 10am on Friday July 3.<\/p>\n

Local residents commented that council workers had been carrying out maintenance work in the street but it is not known how the fire started.<\/p>\n

In a clip shared with Edinburgh Live, three men can be seen at the end of a driveway looking at the hedge as it becomes engulfed in flames.<\/p>\n

Firefighters tackled the blaze. <\/p>\n

Brown smoke is visibly spewing from the middle of the hedge with flames flickering into the air in the footage.<\/p>\n

A further photo shows the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service<\/a> (SFRS) in attendance at the garden inferno as they looked to control the situation.<\/p>\n

Another image shows the charred remains of the impacted section of the bush.<\/p>\n

John said: “I’m just worried for the neighbours. They are a lovely family.<\/p>\n

“Their house and garden hut could have gone up.”<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the SFRS said: \u201cWe received a report of a 10ft garden hedge alight at around 10.08am on Friday July 3.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne appliance was sent to the scene and the crew left at 11am.<\/p>\n
