American golfer Patton Kizzire has withdrawn from the 2025 PGA Championship<\/a> because of injury, it emerged on Friday morning.<\/p>\n

The 39-year-old, who is ranked No 141 in the world, shot a three-over-par 74 during Thursday’s opening round.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He then endured a nightmare start to his second round, hitting four bogeys and a double bogey in his first 10 holes, before pulling out.<\/p>\n

It is not the first time this year that Kizzire, who turned pro in 2008, has withdrawn from an event. Back in March, after a run of six missed cuts, he pulled out of the Valspar Championship.<\/p>\n

The 39-year-old has played in 14 tour events this year and missed the cut nine times – including at the Masters<\/a> at Augusta National.<\/p>\n

He would have needed a miracle to make the weekend at the PGA Championship – after a difficult opening 28 holes at Quail Hollow, he was nine-over-par.<\/p>\n

Kizzire’s most recent victory on the PGA Tour came at the 2024\u00a0Procore Championship. He previously won the\u00a0 2018 Sony Open in Hawaii and the 2017 OHL Classic at Mayakoba.<\/p>\n

On Friday, the American was playing alongside compatriot\u00a0Matt McCarty and Denmark’s Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Elsewhere during round two,\u00a0Tyrrell Hatton\u2019s frustrations boiled over once more as he squandered a promising start to the year’s second major.<\/p>\n

Hatton was within a shot of the lead after going two-under-par across the first eight holes of his second round, only to then run up a damaging triple bogey on the 18th.<\/p>\n

After pulling his tee shot on the difficult par four into the creek which runs the length of the hole, Hatton could be clearly heard shouting ‘piece of s***… c***’ at the face of his driver.<\/p>\n

A day earlier,\u00a0Hatton was heard berating himself in another X-rated tirade.\u00a0At\u00a0the par-three 17th on Thursday, he\u00a0saw his tee shot land just off the right side of the green and his furious reaction was then caught on a hot mic.<\/p>\n

‘Oh my God,’ Hatton said. ‘That is… the worst f***ing…’\u00a0<\/p>\n
