South Gloucestershire Council<\/a> aware. No one was injured.<\/p>\n\u201cWe recognise how concerning an incident of this nature will be to parents and carers. However, it is something that is incredibly rare.\u201d<\/p>\n
The knife, which was in a bag belonging to a pupil in Year 5, was immediately confiscated by staff.<\/p>\n
An email, sent just after 8am this morning, Friday, May 16, alerted the rest of the school community.<\/p>\n
The email from Mr Rowsell said: “I am writing to inform you of an incident that took place yesterday.<\/p>\n
“During the course of the day, a knife was discovered in the bag of a Year 5 pupil.<\/p>\n
“This item was immediately confiscated by staff, and no child or adult was harmed at any time.<\/p>\n
“The safety and wellbeing of all our pupils is always our highest priority and we acted promptly to ensure everyone remained safe.<\/p>\n
“I am currently conducting a thorough investigation in line with our safeguarding policies and procedures.<\/p>\n
“The Year 5 parents were notified yesterday but I wanted to be transparent with you as a school community and let you know that we are taking this very seriously.”<\/p>\n
The Park Primary School told BristolLive: “On reports that a child was in possession of a knife in their bag, staff immediately confiscated the item safely. No one was harmed.”<\/p>\n
