Travel aficionados have awarded these charming cobblestone lanes top honours as the most stunning village globally.<\/p>\n

Now a sought-after destination, Forbes has crowned the Cotswolds village as the world’s most picturesque village, rivalling the Mediterranean’s coastal gems.<\/p>\n

While England boasts numerous attractions from the Lake District’s valleys to Cornwall’s coastline, the Cotswolds remains a magnet for international visitors drawn to its fairytale hamlets and traditional English character.<\/p>\n

One location in particular has earned significant recognition, as Forbes, alongside Unforgettable Travel Company, revealed the world’s 50 most beautiful villages and positioned Bibury Gloucestershire at the top.<\/p>\n

The publication described it, saying: “Bibury unfurls like a watercolour dream-where honey-slicked cottages line Arlington Row; their mossy roofs whispering tales of 14th-century weavers. The River Coln murmurs gently here-weaving through golden buttercups and forget-me-nots, while plump ducks paddle lazily beneath canopies of willow.”<\/p>\n

Visitors journey from across the globe to experience these honey-toned cottages and willow-shaded riverbanks situated just one hour 10 minutes by car from Bristol. Although, residents are openly wrestling with excessive tourism as thousands descend upon the diminutive village during busy periods.<\/p>\n

Locals are calling for increased measures to preserve the tranquil and intimate atmosphere that originally made the destination so beloved. Nestled beside the River Coln, Bibury overflows with heritage and natural beauty, with the cottages along Arlington Row dating back as far as 1380.<\/p>\n

Today, this enchanting setting is safeguarded by the National Trust, which owns most of the properties lining the row, except for two now operating as holiday lets.<\/p>\n

The celebrated row was subsequently transformed into weavers’ cottages during the 17th century and has remained unchanged ever since. Their authentic characteristics appear plucked straight from a storybook, while their location alongside the meadow\u2014home to aquatic flora and birdlife\u2014resembles something from a fantasy.<\/p>\n

One guest posted their experience on Tripadvisor, commenting: “Quintessential English rural scene. Okay, we were one of the many tourists doing the same thing in admiring the buildings, but it didn’t spoil our time.<\/p>\n

“We managed to park nearby for free, and the walk by the beautiful clear river is all part of the experience. Worth a visit.”<\/p>\n

With the natural environment central to this compact village, numerous visitors choose to explore England’s oldest trout farm, Bibury Trout Farm, where they can wander the grounds and observe colourful wildlife. Tucked away within the village, this destination allows you to catch a fish, rent a barbecue, enjoy a round of Crazy Golf, or simply relax in the welcoming onsite caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Following a visit to the farm, one visitor shared: “We had such a fun trip at Bibury Trout Farm! The grounds were beautifully maintained, everything was clean, and the trout fishing and BBQ experience were fantastic.<\/p>\n

“The staff were incredibly friendly, and we really appreciated the effort they made to make our visit enjoyable. Highly recommend it!”.<\/p>\n
