Smith when he married his long term partner, after she had previously rejected his proposals on four occasions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Stand-up comic Skinner, 68, revealed he has wed his girlfriend Cath Mason during a private ceremony in London earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">On his podcast, Skinner said: &#8220;You\u2019ll never guess what I did on Monday. I got married. Don\u2019t be offended. We didn\u2019t invite anyone. We got married on the stairs, not in a room, but on the stairs at Camden Town Hall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cWhat the thing that no one ever says about getting married is it\u2019s quite embarrassing. How can I put it? It\u2019s a bit basic, getting married.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">And he revealed that the pair walked down the aisle to The Fall&#8217;s 1981 single Lie Dream of a Casino Soul, by the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/salford\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Salford<\/a> institution led by the late Mark E.Smith.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_PIC-6-01538205-Mark-E-Smith-and-The-Fall-at-Reading-Festival-August-1991.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Mark E. Smith pictured in 1991(Image: Mirrorpix)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Skinner said: \u201cThat sounds gimmicky. That sounds like getting married by Elvis in Vegas. But in fact, The Fall meant so much to me and Cath when we were in our early days, so it was actually quite an emotional thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In an interview last year, the comedian shared that he proposed and got rejected by Mason, a talent agent, four times. When she agreed to his latest proposal, he said Mason told him that she did not want to have a big party with lots of guests or wear a white dress but instead wore a \u201cflowery dress\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The couple share a son together, Buzz, who Skinner said attended the wedding as a witness. He said: \u201cWe had our child there. I think you have to have them now to a modern marriage, it\u2019s like something old, something new, something boring, something blue and your children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">When asked why they decided to get married, he said: \u201cI don\u2019t know why I just thought maybe I got too much money.
