The Foo Figthers have parted ways with drummer Josh Freese, Freese revealed on his Instagram Friday, with the departure coming two years after he was tapped to replace Taylor Hawkins following his death. <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThe Foo Fighters called me Monday night to let me know they\u2019ve decided \u2018to go in a different direction with their drummer.\u2019 No reason was given,\u201d Freese wrote. \u201cRegardless, I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off stage, and I support whatever they feel is best for the band.\u201d<\/p>\n More from The Hollywood Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n A representative for the Foo Fighters didn\u2019t immediately respond to request for comment on Freese\u2019s ouster, and it\u2019s unclear who the band\u2019s next drummer will be. The band\u2019s first show of 2025 is slated for October, where they\u2019re expected to play at the Singapore F1 Grand Prix.<\/p>\n Freese was announced as the Foo Fighters\u2019 new drummer <\/a>about a year after Hawkins died while the band was on tour in South America. Aside from his work with Foo Fighters, Freese has also been the drummer for Devo since 1996 and has played with bands like Guns n\u2019 Roses and Nine Inch Nails.<\/p>\n \u201cIn my 40 years of drumming professionally, I\u2019ve never been let go from a band, so while I\u2019m not angry-just a bit shocked and disappointed,\u201d Freese wrote on Friday. \u201cBut as most of you know I\u2019ve always worked freelance and bounced between bands so, I\u2019m fine.
