(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wbrc.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">WBRC<\/a>) &#8211; A convicted felon from Birmingham has been sentenced by a federal judge on multiple firearms charges, according to the United States Attorney\u2019s Office. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">U.S. District Judge Anna Manasco has sentenced 32-year-old Robert Garrett to 130 months in prison.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">The sentence comes after Garrett pleaded guilty in March to two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">According to court records, in April 2023, officers with the Birmingham Police Department pulled the vehicle Garrett was driving over for a traffic stop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">When officers ran Garrett\u2019s information through dispatch, it was found he had several active warrants for his arrest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">That\u2019s when officers removed Garrett from the vehicle and arrested him for those warrants.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">While doing so, officers said they smelled marijuana in the vehicle. During their search of the vehicle, they found a pistol, a 25-round magazine, and a backpack containing marijuana.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">In August 2023, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) agents went to a residence in Birmingham to follow up on a federal firearms violation involving Garrett.
