King Charles<\/a> made a heartbreaking plea<\/a> to Prince William<\/a> after realising his own “mistakes”, which was a definitive moment for the future of the monarchy, royal experts have claimed. A new documentary titled William and Catherine: Putting Family First, which will air this weekend on Channel 5, features various royal experts speaking about how the discussion marked a major shift within the monarchy.<\/a><\/p>\n

Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty Magazine, claimed that the King urged his eldest son to spend more time with his family and avoid “mistakes” of the past. She said as per the Scottish Daily Express<\/a>: “Charles said to William, ‘Please don’t make the mistake that I made’ and ‘I want you to enjoy your family life’. And Charles was very insistent about this because he said, ‘I was so dedicated to duty, I couldn’t make way for family life in the way that I should’ve done’ and that’s what William did.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Grant Harrold, who worked for King Charles from 2004 to 2011 as a butler, dubbed the move a royal “first” within the Royal Family.<\/p>\n

He said: “I can absolutely see that there’s been a turning point in his life that I’d never thought I’d witness.<\/p>\n

“I think for the first time ever you’ve got a King, who I think deep down if his boys need him, he would probably put them before the crown.<\/p>\n

“That’s what I believe, and that’s the first time that would have ever have happened in the history of the monarchy.”<\/p>\n

Ms Seward added that Charles, along with Princess Anne, Prince Andrew<\/a> and Prince Edward used to have a nanny while growing up due to the late Queen Elizabeth’s and Prince Philip’s busy schedules.<\/p>\n

Prince Harry<\/a> wrote about his father’s parenting style in his memoir, Spare.<\/p>\n

He said: “He\u2019d been an older dad, and I\u2019d always felt that this created problems, placed barriers between us.<\/p>\n

“In his middle years he\u2019d become more sedentary, more habitual. He liked his routines.<\/p>\n

“He wasn\u2019t the kind of father who played endless rounds of tag, or tossed a ball until long after dark. He\u2019d been so once.”<\/p>\n

The Duke of Sussex added: “Long before we were ready, he stopped engaging in that kind of physical fun.<\/p>\n

“He just didn\u2019t have the enthusiasm\u2014the puff. But I would, I always promised myself.
