{"id":1074557,"date":"2026-07-07T17:44:14","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T17:44:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1074557\/"},"modified":"2026-07-07T17:44:14","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T17:44:14","slug":"fintech-float-launches-card-linked-installments-in-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1074557\/","title":{"rendered":"FinTech Float Launches Card-Linked Installments in UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/choosefloat.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Float<\/a>, which has offered credit card-linked installment payment options in South Africa since 2021, expanded to the United Kingdom, Motor Trade News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motortradenews.com\/finance-leasing\/float-launches-in-the-uk-focuses-on-automotive\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> Tuesday (July 7).<\/p>\n<p>The company links to consumers\u2019 existing credit cards, provides the option of paying in installments without a new line of credit, and offers up to 12 months of installments with no interest or fees, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>In South Africa, Float offers this option across more than 2,000 shops, per the report.<\/p>\n<p>The company has found that its installment payment options enable merchants to get bigger baskets and more conversions without discounting or offering new loans, Float Founder and CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/alex-forsyth-thompson-cfa-6b42a75a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Alex Forsyth-Thompson<\/a> said in the report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMillions of U.K. consumers don\u2019t need more credit\u2014they need more time,\u201d Forsyth-Thompson said. \u201cInstead of a trade-off between paying down their credit card balance, taking out new credit or point-of-sale finance, or abandoning the purchase entirely, with Float, merchants can now offer their shoppers an alternative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Float did not immediately reply to PYMNTS\u2019 request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/pymnts-intelligence\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">PYMNTS Intelligence<\/a> report \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/study\/navigating-new-norms-card-linked-installment-plans\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Navigating New Norms: The Use of Card-Linked Installment Plans in Online and In-Store Sales<\/a>\u201d found that more than 80% of acquirers said providing card-linked installment plans leads to greater sales volume.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA consensus has formed among acquirers that offering card-linked plans significantly influences consumer purchasing behavior, making customers more inclined to either purchase more or opt for higher-priced items,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/choosefloat.com\/uk\/case-studies\/best-instalment-payments-in-the-uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">blog post<\/a> on its <a href=\"https:\/\/choosefloat.com\/uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">U.K. website<\/a>, Float said that card-linked installments are especially useful for high-ticket items in categories such as consumer electronics and pre-owned tech;
