No matter what margin he achieves this by.

To do this, they will likely be in direct competition with the three teams who won promotion from the Championship last season, Coventry, Ipswich and Hull.

But this looks like it will not be an easy task, and the 49ers will surely be nervous after hearing who one of these teams looks to be close to signing.

Ipswich on verge of signing £26.6m-rated Emersonn

According to reports from Sky Sports, Ipswich are on the verge of signing Toulouse striker Emersonn. The deal will reportedly cost them £26.6million including add-ons.

The 21-year-old Brazilian, who notched six league goals in 27 Ligue 1 appearances last season, is set to undergo a medical ahead of a potential move.

Many Leeds fans, myself included, expect us to sell Joel Piroe this summer. The 26-year-old was completley ineffective in the top-flight, and Farke would ideally need another quality option in this area.

So if we sell Piroe, the 49ers will be under huge pressure to bring in a quality replacement. Especially if teams like Ipswich are splashing near £27million on a striker.

Due to his form last season, Dominic Calvert-Lewin should undoubtedly be our first-choice striker. But someone else who has the ability to challenge him for his place in the team and play up alongside him would also be nice.

Lukas Nmecha hasn’t convinced me entirely yet at Leeds

The other striker aside from Piroe and Calvert-Lewin at the club is Lukas Nmecha.

Like Calvert-Lewin, Nmecha was also brought in on a free. As a backup, he was incredible, often impacting games from the bench.

In total, Nmecha scored six Premier League goals in just 1092 minutes. Proving he can be a valuable deputy to Calvert-Lewin.

But if Calvert-Lewin sustained a lengthy injury next season, could Nmecha be the man we can rely on for a run of 10 games? I’m not sure.

Whenever he started up top on his own last season, the drop-off in our performances was apparent. His first touch at times was questionable, and his hold-up play could leave a lot to be desired.

I’d certainly still keep him as an impact sub. But I feel like signing another quality striker would do wonders when it comes to giving Farke more options.

It’s still mental to think that, to this point, we haven’t paid a transfer fee to sign a striker in the Premier League. But that is why, when they eventually do, the 49ers will be under immense pressure to get it right.

Especially when teams who are likely to be in and around them are signing strikers of their own for big money.

            0%
Love

            0%
Funny

            0%
Wow

            0%
Sad

            0%
Angry

After avoiding the drop upon their immediate return to the Premier League, Leeds United will be hoping to…

[8814
748,33761,294490,393,4884,12413,1860,2922,142361,76439,16,15
post-1074794","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-leeds","tag-britain","tag-dominic-calvert-lewin","tag-emersonn","tag-england","tag-great-britain","tag-joel-piroe","tag-leeds","tag-leeds-united","tag-lufc","tag-lukas-nmecha","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom
["GET
