People across the country have been wrestling with issues from their Sky TV boxes.<\/a> The good news? you aren’t alone as a massive outage hit the platform on Thursday night, May 15.<\/p>\n

It left thousands unable to tune into their favourite tv shows, stick on a film or binge on their latest boxset. The problems<\/a>, which affected Sky Q, included error messages on the screen and things completely freezing.<\/p>\n

Sky has now apologised for the issues and has confirmed things should be back to normal. They told the Mirror<\/a>, \u201cWe\u2019re sorry some customers had trouble accessing Sky Q last night. The issue was quickly resolved, and service has been restored.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although the satellite system appears to be back online and all issues resolved, some are still reporting problems. Social media has been flooded with messages from Sky customers<\/a> saying that Sky Q isn’t working properly.<\/p>\n

Taking to Twitter, one user said: “My Q box<\/a> keeps shutting down since yesterday. I turn it off it reboots and works.”<\/p>\n

\"TheSky has apologised to Q box customers and offered advice on how to solve the issue<\/p>\n

As another added: “Sky Q box still down. Unable to contact Sky by phone as they have stopped answering. What\u2019s going on?”<\/p>\n

How can it be fixed?<\/p>\n

Don’t get too concerned, as Sky now says there’s a simple fix. The age-old trick of hitting the power button should sort things out.<\/p>\n

If your Sky Q box is still stuck in standby, the solution is to switch it off at the power socket for 30 seconds and then turn it back on again. This should restore the service and end the errors.<\/p>\n

It appears this tip may be useful to many users, as social media is still being flooded with disgruntled Sky customers who say they are struggling to access their streaming box.<\/p>\n

One user said: “Sky, any chance you can help with Sky Q box just shutting down and disconnecting from the TV? It seems I am not the only one trying to get help.”<\/p>\n

Another wrote: “Thousands of us can\u2019t watch anything on our Sky Q at the moment because it\u2019s down.”<\/p>\n

Someone else, who had already tried the classic IT trick, added: “Sky Q has been down since last night. Turned my box off and on numerous times and after 20 minutes it happens again.”<\/p>\n

It’s worth noting that last night’s problems didn’t affect devices that use the internet to beam content to the big screen. Those with Sky Glass and Sky Stream have been able to continue watching content without any errors. Issues with Sky systems are rare, and this is one of the first times Sky Q has been hit by serious gremlins.<\/p>\n
