Some East Midlands Railway services will be temporarily suspended “to keep the railway operating safely” amid the latest hot weather warning.<\/p>\n

The train operator has urged customers travelling across the region to only do so if essential, and advised passengers to travel before midday “to avoid the highest temperatures”.<\/p>\n

Regional services between Nottingham and Worksop<\/a> and Nottingham and Leicester will be suspended from this time onwards each day, between Wednesday (July 8) and Sunday (July 12).<\/p>\n

An amber heat-health warning<\/a> will be in place and EMR says<\/a> it is working closely with Network Rail during this period to ensure services run safely.<\/p>\n

Some services across this period will also be “expected to operate at reduced speeds for safety reasons,” the train operator says.<\/p>\n

This is expected to lead to longer journey times<\/a> and an increased risk of delays, with customers urged to check their journey before they travel.<\/p>\n

The transport company adds that customers should stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing and wait in shaded areas of stations.<\/p>\n

Philippa Cresswell, the company’s customer experience director, said: “The hot weather<\/a> means we’ll need to make some temporary changes to our services to keep the railway operating safely.<\/p>\n

“If you do need to travel and the journey is essential, we’d recommend travelling before midday and checking your journey before setting off.<\/p>\n
