Bring Her Back<\/a>, the new must-see “frightening” horror movie from A24, has debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with a near-perfect rating. <\/p>\n

Set for release in UK cinemas on 1 August and US cinemas on 30 May, the new horror movie sees Paddington<\/a> star Sally Hawkins<\/a> take on the lead role. <\/p>\n

Directed by Talk To Me directors Danny and Michael Philippou, the supernatural horror marks the Australian duo’s second feature film.<\/p>\n

Bring Her Back stars Hawkins as a grief-stricken mother named Laura who fosters a brother and sister played by Sora Wong and Billy Barratt. <\/p>\n

They are joined by Mischa Heywood and Jonah Wren Phillips, who plays another of Laura’s foster children named Oliver.<\/p>\n

The logline reads: “A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother.”<\/p>\n

Ahead of its release in cinemas, Bring Her Back has proved popular among critics, who, at the time of writing, have given the film a rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> from 31 critic reviews.<\/p>\n

In their review of the horror film Mashable<\/a> compared it to the Phillipous’ first feature, calling Bring Her Back “as frightening” as Talk To Me. <\/p>\n

“With two-time Academy Award nominee Sally Hawkins fronting this film, Bring Her Back is just as frightening as the Philippou brothers’ first… maybe even more so,” they penned. <\/p>\n

Bloody Disgusting<\/a> wrote: “The Philippous’ brand of grief horror is as visceral and brutal as you\u2019d expect based on their feature debut, but without hope. Instead, Bring Her Back operates on an unwavering and palpable feeling of dread and anguish from start to end.”<\/p>\n

Screen International<\/a> praised Hawkins’ performance, saying she “gives a fiendish performance, hinting at her character\u2019s wickedness before delivering a portrait of unspeakable evil that is sinister in its subtlety.”<\/p>\n

“The Philippous work in a mode that\u2019s impressionistic in an accomplished enough way to justify itself. They don\u2019t care about tying up every bloody loose end. They\u2019re after a feeling, a lavish sensation of malevolent shock,” wrote Variety<\/a>. <\/p>\n

AV Club<\/a> had this to say: “Like a punk band turning four chords into pure angst, Bring Her Back turns familiar trauma-based horror into a traumatic experience. To sit through Bring Her Back is to endure it.”<\/p>\n

“Bring Her Back,like many great horror movies, hardly needs to dip into the supernatural to shred our nerve-endings,” penned The Wrap<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Bring Her Back hits US cinemas on <\/strong>30 May<\/strong>. In the UK, the film releases on 1 August.<\/strong><\/p>\n
