An emotional Emi Martinez applauds the fans<\/p>\n
Emi Martinez<\/a> was in tears after Aston Villa\u2019s<\/a> 2-0 win over Tottenham<\/a> this evening.<\/p>\n It was the club’s final home game of the season, and Martinez took a few minutes to take it all in as he stood at the edge of his box, before Robin Olsen came over to congratulate him on the victory and clean sheet.<\/p>\n This was the fifth clean sheet Martinez has kept in the last eight league games, while Olsen also recorded a clean sheet himself before that run, in the 1-0 victory at Brentford.<\/p>\n Then, as he walked towards the Holte End, Martinez started to wipe his eyes after appearing to shed a tear or two.<\/p>\n He applauded fans around the stadium and slowly made his way back down the tunnel.<\/p>\n Leon Bailey was also visibly upset tonight, with his future in question after struggling for game time in the second half of the season.<\/p>\n Asked after full-time if Martinez and Bailey could leave the club this summer, Emery said: \u201cNow we are focused on the matches we are playing. It is the last match here.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know. We will see. We will see about the team, the players. They are responding and are so focused on how we are preparing each match.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have more points to play for against Manchester United. We will see how we can get better for the next season.\u201d<\/p>\n Martinez and the rest of the Villa squad then walked around the pitch to thank supporters for their backing during the campaign.<\/p>\n Martinez signed a new long-term contract with Villa last August but is of interest to a number of clubs – including from Saudi Arabia – heading into the summer transfer window.<\/p>\n What did you make of Villa’s performance?
