Israel reportedly recently shared intelligence with the U.S. about potential plans by Iran<\/a> to kill President Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n The news about the alleged plot, reported by The Wall Street Journal<\/a> and CNN<\/a>, comes at a time of heightened tensions between the U.S. and Iran, with both sides trading strikes i<\/a>n recent days.<\/p>\n The Independent has contacted Iran\u2019s mission to the United Nations and the Israeli embassy in Washington for comment.<\/p>\n When asked by The Independent about the alleged intelligence tip, the White House pointed<\/a> to President Trump\u2019s comments yesterday claiming that he was under threat from Iran.<\/p>\n \u201cThey want to take out the U.S. leader \u2014 me,\u201d Trump<\/a> said. \u201cI\u2019m on whatever list. I saw this morning I\u2019m on every single one of their lists. And so far, I guess I\u2019ve been a bit lucky, but maybe that doesn\u2019t last very long. These are evil, sick people. And we have to root out that cancer. That cancer. You know what you do? You\u2019ve got to cut out cancer early. And that\u2019s the way I feel.\u201d <\/p>\n The details of the plot Israel had warned about were not immediately clear, CNN reported.<\/p>\n Officials familiar with the intelligence dialogue told CNN that the U.S. had not vetted the alleged Iranian plot and suggested the warning could be viewed in part as an effort to sway the Trump administration towards Israel\u2019s perspective on the war.
