Another moor fire has broken out on Friday night<\/p>\n

Firefighters are now battling two wildfires on the hills above Glossop on Friday night.<\/p>\n

A second moorland blaze has broken out tonight, fire chiefs have said. It comes after a blaze near Tintwistle, which first broke out 16 days ago<\/a>, flared up again yesterday.<\/a><\/p>\n

And tonight it’s emerged a second, separate moor fire fire near Arnfield Farm in Glossop has also broken out. Seven fire crews from Buxton, Matlock, Glossop, Bolsover, New Mills, Wirksworth and Shirebrook are on the scene, with support from firefighters in Lancashire<\/p>\n

Fire chiefs say anyone who can see or smell smoke should keep their windows closed. Earlier today it emerged 2.6 million square metres of moorland has been scorched in the first fire \u2013 the equivalent of more than 350 football pitches.<\/p>\n

With dry weather<\/a> and heatwave continuing, a high wildfire warning remains in place across the Peak District this weekend.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the flare-up, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service group manager Louise Dempsey said: “On behalf of Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service, I would like to thank everyone who has supported the response to this incident to date. We are also grateful to local communities for their continued cooperation, understanding and patience.<\/p>\n

“Although the situation at Tintwistle Moor has improved significantly, crews and partner agencies are still dealing with isolated flare-ups and hotspots within the burn area. We strongly urge people visiting the area to act responsibly and think about the impact their actions can have on our wildlife and countryside.<\/p>\n

“Wildfires not only damage our precious moorland and outdoor spaces, they also tie up emergency resources that may be needed elsewhere for life-threatening incidents.
