Bristol city centre<\/a> today (Saturday, May 17). Demonstrators and counter-demonstrators are expected to be out in the area around the Cenotaph from around 11.30am.<\/p>\nA spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said it is aware of the protests and officers will be out in the city centre. Anyone planning to travel around St Augustine’s Parade, Small Street, Colston Avenue and Baldwin Street have been advised to allow extra time.<\/p>\n
A force spokesperson said officers will be in the area to minimise the impact to traffic and travel in the city centre.<\/p>\n
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: \u201cWe are aware of demonstrations taking place in the city centre (Saturday 17 May) which may impact popular travel routes in the morning and afternoon.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe would advise anyone planning to travel in the area of St Augustine’s Parade, Small Street, Colston Avenue and Baldwin Street should allow for extra time.<\/p>\n
\u201cA policing operation will be carried out and will see police liaison teams engaging with those attending to ensure peaceful protest can be facilitated.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur officers will also work to minimise disruption to the road network but we would advise people plan their journeys accordingly.\u201d<\/p>\n
UKIP is advertising a ‘mass deportations march’ in Bristol from 1pm.
