Oldham<\/a>, announced the news yesterday.<\/p>\nThe Edge Steakhouse opened a couple of years ago on High Street in the town, but has called it a day due to the economic climate and cost-of-living crisis. Owner Hayley, explained the reasons for shutting and thanked customers in a heartfelt social media post.<\/p>\n
At the steakhouse, they offered diners locally sourced ingredients, including beef from traditionally raised cattle, British seafood, and produce from local farmers and businesses.<\/p>\n
Menus spanned different cuts of steak ranging from fillet and ribeye to sirloin and flat iron, as well as a range of sides like beef dripping chips, beer battered onion rings, and a variety of sauces including peppercorn, blue cheese and rich red wine.<\/p>\n
The statement issued on Facebook read: “It is with the heaviest of hearts I am having to announce that officially from 15.05.2025 The Edge will be closed.<\/p>\n
“Unfortunately the economic climate, external factors of an indoor small restaurant & the rise in the cost of living means the edge can no longer trade effectively for any persons involved.<\/p>\n
“Firstly, I would like to thank every member of staff who has gone above & beyond to create and amazing place of work, dining experience & and all round enjoyment from the edge.<\/p>\n

“To every single customer who has supported me, continuously shared, liked & promoted the edge & to fantastic suppliers for their amazing products.”<\/p>\n
Hayley then explained that all bookings has been cancelled and deposits would be refunded. She also outlined how to go about voucher refunds before issuing a final message to customers and the public more widely.<\/p>\n
“Finally, if possible, please support the local businesses around you fighting for their lives in these extremely taxing times, your custom means more to them than you will ever know & I wish each & every small business the best luck & fortunes for their futures.<\/p>\n
“Thank you, it has been a pleasure serving you all. Hayley, The Edge.”<\/p>\n
The honest and heartbreaking update was met with hundreds of messages across social media, with many thanking the team for their hard work and commitment to the restaurant.<\/p>\n
One wrote: “You and your team did an amazing job Hayley…be proud, you really should be. Tough times for hospitality and some things are just out of your control.<\/p>\n
“Keep smiling, lots more dreams ahead of you.”<\/p>\n
Another added: “Absolutely gutted! We have been telling anyone and everyone what a blessing it has been having such a good restaurant in the village…we have always had outstanding service, quality of food and anyone can tell the chef loves his cooking…food was always delicious.”<\/p>\n
And a third customer wrote: “Oh I am actually so devastated and so angry for you all. This should not have happened, you should not have had to force to close under these circumstances. All your hard work!<\/p>\n
“I honestly wish you all so much love and luck and hope that soon you will actually be able to re-open. Take care Hayley and team.”<\/p>\n
