A police team investigating a string of shop thefts in a Birmingham<\/a> suburb has finally got their man.<\/p>\n

Officers had been investigating several shop thefts and incidents of anti-social behaviour across the Fox and Goose area of Ward End<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They had a wanted man \u2013 David Walton \u2013 who was suspected of being involved.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old, of no fixed address, was arrested next door to a shop in Hodge Hill on Monday (July 13).<\/p>\n

Neighbourhood teams quickly carried out further enquiries and Walton was charged with 13 shop theft offences.<\/p>\n

He admitted the offences at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (July 7) and was immediately jailed for half a year (26 weeks).<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police<\/a> said: “As part of #SaferTownsSummer we are working hard with our partners to make our town centre and shopping spaces as safe and welcoming as possible, for everyone.<\/p>\n
