The\u00a0King\u2019s personal fortune has increased by \u00a330 million to \u00a3640 million in the past year \u2013 making him twice as wealthy as his late mother Queen Elizabeth, according to the latest Sunday Times Rich List.<\/p>\n

The monarch, 76, ranks joint 238th in the list of the UK\u2019s 350 wealthiest people and families, up 20 places from 258th in 2024, the researchers said.<\/p>\n

Charles \u2013 who yesterday saw Prince William<\/a> installed as Great Master of the Order of the Bath at Westminster Abbey \u2013 is said to be \u00a3140 million richer than David and Victoria Beckham<\/a>, who are reported to be worth \u00a3500 million, making the former England captain Britain\u2019s richest sports star.<\/p>\n

The Queen\u2019s wealth was said to be \u00a3370 million when she died in 2022, with Charles now estimated to be \u00a3270million richer, rising from \u00a3610 million last year.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere on the list, 29-year-old pop star Dua Lipa<\/a> was the youngest person in the under-40s table with an estimated worth of \u00a3115 million.<\/p>\n

The Brit and Grammy<\/a> winner was 34th on the \u201840 under 40\u2019 list, after Ed Sheeran<\/a>, 34, at number 13 with \u00a3370 million.<\/p>\n

Only personal assets are included by The Sunday Times when assessing the sovereign\u2019s wealth. The calculations are based on publicly-available records.<\/p>\n

But it is not clear how they are able to come to such an exact figure given so little is known about the Royal Family\u2019s personal finances, in line with most individual\u2019s private wealth.<\/p>\n

The sovereign owns a number of private properties, namely Sandringham in Norfolk, which is on a 20,000-acre estate mostly comprising farms and some rental properties, and Balmoral Castle in Scotland, which comes with 50,000 acres.<\/p>\n

The King will also no doubt have a portfolio of private investments based on inherited wealth, as well as antiques, jewellery, cars and horses.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This is separate from his income from the Duchy of Lancaster and the \u00a31.1 billion Crown Estate.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There are strict rules which curtail his ability to sell or profit from them, instead he uses the income to fund his public work as sovereign and living costs.<\/p>\n

The Sunday Times claims that the King\u2019s investment portfolio could be worth \u00a3125 million and the horses he inherited from the Queen \u00a327 million. Buckingham Palace did not respond to request for comment.<\/p>\n
