Cancellations, Covid postponements, rescheduled wedding plans: all conspired to delay the cordial invites to the wedding of James Middleton and Aliz\u00e9e Thevenet. Finally, on 11 September 2021, they finally said \u2018I do\u2019. And what an occasion it was. Catherine and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tatler.com\/topic\/prince-william\" class=\"text link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Prince William<\/a>, then the Duke and Duchess of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tatler.com\/topic\/cambridge\" class=\"text link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cambridge<\/a>, reportedly flew to the Riviera for the ceremony, with James&#8217;s other sister, Pippa Matthews and his parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, also in attendance.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Image may contain Jutta Kleinschmidt Accessories Earring Jewelry Person Face Head Photography Portrait and Adult\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ResponsiveImageContainer-dkeESL cQPiWi responsive-image__image\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/2282119511.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Aliz\u00e9e Thevenet spent time catching up with the Princess of Wales in the Royal Box at Royal Ascot<\/p>\n<p>Max Mumby\/Indigo\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Announcing the happy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tatler.com\/topic\/news\" class=\"text link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">news<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tatler.com\/topic\/instagram\" class=\"text link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram<\/a>, the 34-year-old wrote: \u2018Yesterday I married the love of my life surrounded by family, friends and of course a few dogs.\u2019 Indeed, one of the couple&#8217;s dogs, a golden retriever called Mabel, could be seen in the background of the glamorous wedding shot. As the story goes, Mabel and another of James\u2019 cocker spaniels, Luna, walked the pair down the aisle.<\/p>\n<p>Two years later, their son, Inigo, was born, a moment that James also attributes to his beloved pet. \u2018This special moment is all thanks to Ella. Let me explain: Aliz\u00e9e, Inigo, and all the dogs came to hear me speak for the first time about my book Meet Ella. Ella introduced me to Aliz\u00e9e, a few years later, we got married, another year or so, Inigo arrived. Ella and Inigo never met, but every moment Ella is with us.
