Liverpool entrepreneurs have turned their businesses from bed-room side hustles to national successes. A few have even gone in to have their names carved in the illustrious Forbes 30 Under 30 lists.<\/p>\n
Whether the owners were born and bred in Liverpool, or simply but their empire from the ground up in and around the city, there’s no denying the hard work and effort than have generated millions of pounds.<\/a><\/p>\n Every year these businesses reach new heights<\/a>, whether it be across the industry or in their personal journeys, from breaking America, opening their first physical retail locations or celebrating anniversary’s competitors never reach.<\/p>\n Charlotte Donoghue and Stephanie Porter Charlotte Donoghue (left) and Stephanie Porter are celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Say It With (Image: Andy Teebay)<\/p>\n Two mums who grew their business from a kitchen table have turned over \u00a340m in 10 years. Charlotte Donoghue, from Aintree<\/a> and Stephanie Porter, from Lydiate are behind jewellery brand, Say It With.<\/a> The business has grown from five necklaces being sold on Instagram, to a celebrity-loved brand, making millions of pounds.<\/p>\n The business partners had “always been around each other” through family connections, but “just clicked” as they got older, had children, and found a mutual love of cups of tea. Stephanie had got some necklaces, and asked Charlotte if she’d be able to help her sell them. Within an hour, Charlotte had sold them all and asked if they had any more.<\/p>\n From there, Say It With – previously Say It With Diamonds – was born and the friends are now business partners. Charlotte told the ECHO<\/a>: “At first we were just doing it for a little bit of pocket money, and we didn’t ever in our wildest dreams think we would be at the turnover that we’re at now. We’re just so grateful and thankful every day.<\/p>\n “It’s unbelievable. The fact that we’re still sat here laughing. It’s never been like a day’s work in the whole 10 years. You know, we’re so lucky to be best of friends. We’ve literally\u2014and I kid you not\u2014not had one cross word in 10 years, over anything. I couldn’t wish for a better business partner and soul sister in my life.”<\/p>\n Tom and Phil Beahon Founders of sportswear company Castore Tom and Phil Beahon(Image: Chester Chronicle)<\/p>\n Wirral<\/a> brothers Tom and Phil Beahon are said to have an estimated wealth of \u00a3350m thanks to their sportswear brand Castore. Their journey began in 2015 when they were 25 and 22-years-old respectively. Tom was a youth professional footballer at Tranmere Rovers between the ages of 17 and 21, while Phil played semi-professional cricket for a number of local clubs.<\/p>\n They founded Castore from their parents\u2019 home, initially funding the business through savings, family support, and small investments. Their aim was to create a premium British sportswear brand capable of competing with global giants such as Nike and Adidas.<\/a><\/p>\n A major breakthrough came in 2019 when tennis star Andy Murray became both an ambassador and investor in the company. Castore then expanded rapidly into elite sports sponsorships, signing deals with Everton FC, Newcastle United F.C., Rangers F.C., McLaren Formula 1 Team, Oracle Red Bull Racing, and the England cricket and rugby teams.<\/p>\n By the mid-2020s, Castore had become one of Britain\u2019s fastest-growing sportswear companies, reaching valuations close to \u00a31 billion and expanding internationally.<\/p>\n Mark Coxhead Protein Works’ CFO Tom Reece (left) and CEO Laura Keir(Image: Lorne Campbell \/ Guzelian)<\/p>\n Another Liverpool business that went from a bedroom operation to generating more than \u00a350 million in revenue in 2024 was recently sold. Protein Works, which sells protein shakes, wellness supplements and high-protein snacks, was acquired by Lactalis, one of the world’s largest dairy companies.<\/p>\n Founded by Mark Coxhead<\/a>, Protein Works<\/a> opened a \u00a310 million state of the art warehouse facility in Speke<\/a> last May, having been founded on bootstraps back in 2012.<\/p>\n Protein Works has sold more than 450 million shakes worldwide and continues with in excess of 2.5 million customers globally – a far cry from the single industrial unit in Runcorn <\/a>that marked the brand’s early days.<\/p>\n Ryan and Reece Broadhurst Arne on Peter’s Lane.<\/p>\n Ryan and Reece Broadhurst, from Warrington<\/a>, are the brains behind ARNE, a company that is loved by Scousers so much that the first physical, and only store, is found in Peter\u2019s Lane in Liverpool ONE.<\/p>\n Founded in 2018, the brand has firmly established a loyal customer base with footballers including Wayne Rooney, Ashley Cole and Steve Gerrard<\/a>, all giving it their stamp of approval.<\/p>\n The brothers began their business shipping orders from their mum\u2019s bungalow, before expanding to a small shop, delivering stylish menswear, including loungewear and casual street fashions. The company prides itself on offering \u201chigh-quality, simple and minimalistic pieces for every occasion\u201d.<\/p>\n ARNE said the Liverpool city centre<\/a> store had been in the pipeline for a few years as they waited for the \u201cperfect location and perfect store\u201d. The management said they wanted the first shop to be somewhere it could thrive long-term. The brothers said Liverpool was always going to be \u201cthe first\u201d. It officially opened to the public in September 2025.<\/p>\n Daniel Yuen and Kieran Riddell-Austin Montirex founders Daniel Yuen and Kieran Riddell-Austin(Image: Montirex)<\/p>\n Daniel Yuen and Kieran Riddell-Austin are responsible for arguably the biggest fashion brand to originate from the city. The pair are the mastermind team behind Montirex<\/a> – a technical outdoor and sportswear brand – that was founded back in 2019.<\/p>\n Their colourful static t-shirts have gone down a storm with customers, becoming items you’d find in many wardrobes throughout Liverpool. In the last few years, Montirex has grown from making around \u00a315 million in revenue to an impressive \u00a3130 million in 2025.<\/p>\n Daniel and Kieran’s success reached an extraordinary new level last year as they were both named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list<\/a> in the Europe Retail & Ecommerce category.<\/p>\n Now, the pair join another prestigious list: The Times’ Young Power List 2026. The 72-year-old entrepreneur <\/a>is behind the national success that we all know and love – Home Bargains (or Home + Bargains to many). The discount Home Bargains<\/a> chain that has given the Morris family their wealth began with one store, which opened in Old Swan<\/a> in 1976.<\/p>\n It was established by a then-21-year-old Tom, the son of a Scotland Road<\/a> shopkeeper.
