You might not have noticed, but a new piece of PS5 content currently rated higher than Resident Evil Requiem<\/a> launched last week: the new DOOM<\/a> expansion Revelations<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The piece of DLC currently commands an Opencritic<\/a> rating of 90, making it the sixth highest-rated title of 2026 so far on the site’s Hall of Fame list. Here’s how the overall top 10 from Opencritic looks as of 13th July 2026:<\/p>\n

  8. Resident Evil Requiem<\/a> \u2014 89<\/li>\n
  9. Hermit and Pig<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 89<\/li>\n
  10. Mewgenics<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 89<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Revelations released over a year after DOOM: The Dark Ages<\/a> came out, and the base game is required to play it. You get a new set of missions to work through, and then an endgame unlocks where you face an increasing difficulty across a few new routes through levels and areas inspired by classic DOOM missions.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

    IGN<\/a> awarded the Revelations DLC a 9\/10 score and then said: “The Dark Ages\u2019 action was already among the best in the genre, and this DLC elevates it even further by fusing it with just the right amount of Doom Eternal to make the two feel similar, but still wholly distinct from each other. It\u2019s a steep difficulty curve to climb, but it\u2019s well worth the effort.”<\/p>\n

    On the same day the expansion released, developer id Software was unfortunately caught up in the wave of layoffs<\/a> confirmed by Microsoft. It’s not down to “support studio size”, which some reports claimed, but it has been significantly impacted by the job losses. Other reports suggest a new DOOM game is still early in production.<\/p>\n
