After clinching a decisive four-set victory in the Wimbledon men\u2019s singles championship<\/a> yesterday, Jannik Sinner met with the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte<\/a>. Kate Middleton, the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, presented Sinner with his winner\u2019s trophy immediately after the match. After a brief on-court interview, Sinner entered the clubhouse, where he spoke with the Waleses.<\/p>\n The Princess of Wales with the winner\u2019s trophy.<\/p>\n \u201cI have so much respect,\u201d Sinner said in his post-match press conference. \u201cYou can really see that they love this sport. This is exactly how we feel as players when we see them. They\u2019re staying there for four hours under the sun with the heat, it\u2019s really nice. I asked the kids if they still play. They\u2019re very happy. Yes they do. We had a very very small conversation, but I love it that they also take time to talk with me.\u201d<\/p>\n You can watch the short exchange here:<\/p>\n Last year, Sinner also spoke about meeting the royal family following his win<\/a>. \u201cIn the beginning, I didn’t know what to say,\u201d the Italian tennis player admitted<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s difficult to understand, you know, how you can talk. I always try to talk very natural.\u201d But, he added, \u201cIt was amazing. I believe for us tennis players, it\u2019s so nice to have them watching us because it makes it even more special. You see how much they care about tennis and the sport itself. It\u2019s very prestigious.
