Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has extended the value of its Minor Works & River Asset Maintenance Framework from \u00a39.5M to \u00a313M through a contract modification notice.<\/p>\n
It covers small-scale and non-complex civil engineering works to construct new and maintain, repair and improve existing assets, such as flood risk management structures, small reservoirs and weirs, as well as habitat and environmental management.<\/p>\n
The framework is split into two geographical areas covering North Wales and South Wales. It\u00a0was awarded in July 2023, with a duration of 48 months.<\/p>\n
The modification notice states that the framework has been extended in value from 9.5M up to \u00a313M value, adding that the increase remains within the 50% permitted threshold and is in accordance with Public Contracts Regulations.<\/p>\n
According to the notice, the variation is required \u201cdue to a combination of exceptional external and macroeconomic factors that a diligent contracting authority could not have foreseen at the time of the initial tender scope\u201d.<\/p>\n
The contractors appointed to the framework are Ebsford Environmental, William Hughes (Civil Engineering), Spencer Environmental Care Associates, John Roberts (Ffestiniog), GH James, Midwest Plant, Tregaron Trading Services, Edwards Diving Services and McCarthy Contractors (Bridgend).<\/p>\n
