An Edinburgh care home has kept the highest rating for supporting the wellbeing of its clients, following an unannounced inspection by the Care Inspectorate.<\/p>\n

Cluny Lodge Care Home which is owned by Elder Homes Ltd, was awarded a score of 6 \u2013 Excellent for \u201cHow well do we support people\u2019s wellbeing?\u201d, alongside scores of 5 \u2013 Very Good for leadership, setting, quality assurance and the quality of its facilities.<\/p>\n

Inspectors visited the home in Morningside, over three days in April, speaking with 14 residents and five family representatives, as well as eight staff and management team members, as part of a thorough assessment of daily life at the home.<\/p>\n

The home earned widespread praise throughout the inspection, with feedback from residents and families highlighting its warm atmosphere, strong focus on independence and consistent emphasis on person-centred care.<\/p>\n

Marcela Patriche, Group Care Home Manager at Elder Homes, said: \u201cRetaining this rating means a lot to our team. It\u2019s confirmation from an independent regulator that the way we care for people, day in and day out, is making a genuine difference to their lives\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis report reflects what we already know from our residents and their families \u2013 that the care here is personal, not generic. Seeing the inspectors recognise that, in their own assessment, means a great deal to everyone on the team.\u201d<\/p>\n

The inspection process drew directly on the views of residents and their loved ones, gathered through conversations, questionnaires and observed daily life at the home.<\/p>\n

Homes are rated on everything from quality of care and staff to facilities, food, and overall experience, offering a powerful and unfiltered reflection of how people truly feel about the care they receive.<\/p>\n

The report described performance as \u2018sector leading\u2019, citing consistently outstanding outcomes for the people in its care. Inspectors praised the strong relationships between staff and residents, noting that people felt respected, well supported and were never made to feel rushed.<\/p>\n

It also highlighted that staff were well trained, enabling them to deliver compassionate, person-centred care with confidence and consistency.<\/p>\n

Cluny Lodge follows a holistic approach, contributing to the high health and wellbeing outcomes of the residents. In addition to the usual roles, it takes to make a home work well, the teams also include in-house physiotherapists, social and leisure team and nutritional support workers.<\/p>\n

In addition to a varied programme of social events, the home offers holistic, person-centred initiatives including Namaste Care and Music therapy, alongside innovative technologies such as an AI-assisted pain assessment tool that supports residents who are unable to verbalise discomfort and an audio enhancement system \u201cSymphony hearing\u201d that improves engagement for people experiencing hearing loss.<\/p>\n

Cluny Lodge, which is registered to provide care for up to 65 people, consistently delivers a tailored , person-centred wellbeing programme designed to meet each resident\u2019s varying needs.<\/p>\n

Residents have access to a wide range of activities, outings, concert and events aimed at providing social, mental and physical stimulation.<\/p>\n

Founded by Loren and Julie Hufstetler in 1984, the family-owned Elder Homes <\/a>has spent more than 40 years providing individualised support and compassionate service to older people requiring assistance with daily living.<\/p>\n
