In <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/life-style\/property\/2037771\/renting-landlord-eviction-property\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">London<\/a>, the average price of a home jumped 500% in the past 20 years, according to Land Registry data. But, from 2016, things began to change where flats are concerned, reports The Telegraph.<\/p>\n<p>According to Zoopla, the prices of flats in the <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/life-style\/property\/2037771\/renting-landlord-eviction-property\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">capital<\/a> have not risen in nearly a decade. Inflation means prices have actually fallen, meaning those who invested in a flat have technically made a loss.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/life-style\/property\/2037771\/renting-landlord-eviction-property\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">houses in the capital<\/a> have not had the same problem. The average London house has seen its value jump from \u00a3562,000 to \u00a3705,200.<\/p>\n<p>However, costs associated with <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/life-style\/property\/2037771\/renting-landlord-eviction-property\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">owning and maintaining a flat<\/a> have risen.
