Then, tides started to turn, and in the past 25 years, there\u2019s only been three top 10 results.<\/p>\n<p>In 2003, 2008, 2010, 2019 and 2021, we also picked up the unenviable position of last place, with two of those including the dreaded \u2018nul points\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Despite it seeming Sam Ryder had turned things around with his second placing in 2022, the past two years have seen the UK\u2019s standings back at the bottom end again.<\/p>\n<p>But after watching Remember Monday \u2013 the 2025 UK act \u2013 rehearse for <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/05\/16\/eurovision-2025-final-full-list-countries-favourites-win-23098423\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tonight\u2019s Grand Final<\/a>, I\u2019m convinced the girl band will see us <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/05\/15\/uk-best-shot-winning-eurovision-since-sam-ryder-2-23086218\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">soar into the Top 10 again<\/a> \u2013 even if I don\u2019t think we\u2019ll win.<\/p>\n<p><a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/05\/14\/eurovision-stars-remember-monday-were-not-everyones-cup-tea-fine-23077412\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">For those unfamiliar with the trio<\/a> \u2013 Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull, and Charlotte Steele \u2013 they formed 14 years ago after meeting in high school and have since appeared on The Voice UK and supported Billy Joel.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SEI_251452331-08e9.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-23095620\" alt=\"British group Remember Monday representing the United Kingdom with the song \" what=\"\" the=\"\" hell=\"\" just=\"\" happened=\"\" performs=\"\" during=\"\" second=\"\" semi-final=\"\" of=\"\" eurovision=\"\" song=\"\" contest=\"\" at=\"\" st.=\"\" jakobshalle=\"\" arena=\"\" in=\"\" basel=\"\" on=\"\" may=\"\" by=\"\" fabrice=\"\" coffrini=\"\" afp=\"\" via=\"\" getty=\"\" images=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tThe girl band will compete in tonight\u2019s Grand Final with the song What The Hell Just Happened? Current odds show them finishing in 11th place, but with a 1% chance of winning.<\/p>\n<p>However, seeing them live in St Jakobshalle Arena in Basel has me sure the UK doesn\u2019t have to go into the final anxious about facing another uphill battle.<\/p>\n<p>They have all performed on the West End (Lauren in Phantom of the Opera, Holly-Anne in Six: The Musical and Charlotte in Mary Poppins).<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"969\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SEI_250809897-5da9.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-23077894\" alt=\"Remember Monday, representing the United Kingdom, pose during the Eurovision Song Contest's 'Turquoise Carpet' ceremony in Basel, Switzerland, May 11, 2025. They know how to work a stage in a way that nods back to their theatre backgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>Admittedly it\u2019s taken a while for their song to grow on me. At first it felt like there was just too much going on and it was hard to keep up with the tempo changes.<\/p>\n<p>But in recent weeks it\u2019s slowly made its way into my most listened to songs and while I can\u2019t quite put my finger on what changed, I\u2019m glad to say I now agree with <strong>Metro <\/strong>writer Robert Oliver\u2019s review of it being \u2018bold as brass\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\tMy Top 10 Eurovision 2025 Finalists\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Malta<\/p>\n<p>Portugal<\/p>\n<p>Switzerland<\/p>\n<p>Sweden<\/p>\n<p>Finland<\/p>\n<p>Estonia<\/p>\n<p>France<\/p>\n<p>Italy<\/p>\n<p>United Kingdom<\/p>\n<p>Poland<\/p>\n<p>While their songs isn\u2019t the usual pop tune that Eurovision fans throw their support behind, it stands apart in amongst the 20 tracks, which include genres like rock, dance and folk.<\/p>\n<p>Their costumes are bright and fun (with a modern Bridgerton type feel) and props like a chandelier and mirror play into the fun and upbeat message of the song. It\u2019s by no means the most attention-grabbing or stand-out Eurovision song or performance this year, but it\u2019s a hell of a lot better than what we\u2019re used to.<\/p>\n<p>After they performed during Semi Final 2 on Thursday night, many viewers agreed.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SEI_238567095-4318.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-23077878\" alt=\"Editorial use only Mandatory Credit: Photo by Rachel Joseph\/ITV\/REX\/Shutterstock (10163974as) The Knockouts: Team JHud: Remember Monday perform. With Emma Willis 'The Voice UK' TV Show, Series 3, Episode 12, UK - 23 Mar 2019\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tThey competed on The Voice UK in 2019 (Picture: Rachel Joseph\/ ITV\/ Rex\/ Shutterstock)<\/p>\n<p>Some posted on social media it was \u2018fun and fresh\u2019, \u2018different to all the other songs\u2019, and \u2018the best United Kingdom entry for many years\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Admittedly though, I think it\u2019s unlikely the girls will win as the competition is so incredibly fierce this year.<\/p>\n<p>Odds currently have Sweden, Austria and France in the lead, but I think a dark horse like Malta or Finland might race ahead and pip them at the post.<\/p>\n<p>Securing a decent public vote is generally difficult for the UK but Remember Monday have also been doing everything right ahead of time too \u2013 going on an impressive promotional tour and picking up fans while travelling and performing across Europe.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SEI_250268269-2e1c.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-23077866\" alt=\"Handout photo of Remember Monday.
