(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wbrc.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">WBRC<\/a>) &#8211; Officials with Birmingham City Schools are asking families to complete student registration now so they can avoid long lines at the start of the school year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">According to the system, about 45% of students have been registered for the 2026\/2027 school year, but that means nearly 10,000 students are not yet registered, as of July 17.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">The first day of class this year is Monday, Aug. 10. Officials say completing the registration early allows the district to make sure instructional materials, supplies, classrooms, and other resources are ready for students on the first day of school.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">\u201cFamilies should not wait,\u201d Superintendent Dr. Mark Sullivan said. \u201cTimely registration helps schools finalize staffing, classroom assignments, student schedules, transportation, and other essential services before students return.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">You can register your child at their online portal, located on the Birmingham City Schools website. Click or tap here to access that page.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">If you need in-person assistance, you can visit your zoned school. Personnel are available to help you complete the registration process.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">Assistance is also available for bilingual families by appointment.
