A huge shark has been spotted swimming off the coast of Cornwall.<\/p>\n
The suspected basking shark was seen off the Lizard<\/a> Point on Wednesday afternoon (July 15) by stunned holidaymaker Clare Miller.<\/p>\n She estimated the shark to be around five to seven metres long and captured the remarkable creature on video – which you can watch above – as it swam near the surface of the water.<\/p>\n Speaking about how she felt when she saw the shark, Clare told CornwallLive<\/a>: “I was unsure at first but felt overjoyed once I realised I had found something special.”<\/p>\n Clare, who is from Market Harborough in Leicestershire, is on a week-long tour of the coast of Cornwall with her boyfriend Nick.<\/p>\n She said she spent 15 minutes tracking the shark on video as she watched on in awe.<\/p>\n According to the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, the basking shark is the second largest fish in our oceans.<\/p>\n However, despite their size, basking sharks only feed on zooplankton and pose no risk to humans.<\/p>\n Back in May, CornwallLive reported that a basking shark was spotted<\/a> and filmed by skipper, Kieren Faisey checking out Newlyn<\/a> Harbour.<\/p>\n The creature was videoed cruising just below the surface in the clear blue waters.
