Liverpool are closing in on their first signing of the summer transfer window – even before it has officially opened. Unlike last year, it is expected to be a busier one for Arne Slot<\/a>.<\/p>\n With Trent Alexander-Arnold <\/a>leaving on a free transfer at the end of June, the Reds have wasted no time in bringing in a possible replacement in the form of Jeremie Frimpong.<\/p>\n Liverpool<\/a> have been heavily linked with the full-back over the last week, and it seems that a deal has moved quickly over the last few days.<\/p>\n The 24-year-old currently plays for German side Bayer Leverkusen and has scored five times and provided six further assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances so far this season.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Jeremie Frimpong sends message ahead of imminent Liverpool transfer as new details emerge<\/a>READ MORE: Liverpool icon confirms emotional Anfield decision – ‘I just have to go’<\/a><\/p>\n With a lot of talk surrounding a move for Frimpong, here is the latest on a move to Anfield<\/a> ahead of the 2025\/26 season.<\/p>\n Release clause<\/p>\n Various reports claim that Bayer Leverkusen have been infirmed that Liverpool will trigger the \u20ac35 million (\u00a329.5m) release clause.<\/p>\n It seems that the Reds have beaten off any competition for the full-back with a move moving another step closer.<\/p>\n The ECHO reported on Saturday that Liverpool were ‘closing’ on a deal for Frimpong<\/a>.<\/p>\n Contract agreement<\/p>\n The Athletic<\/a> report that Frimpong has agreed a five-year contract with Liverpool ahead of a potential move.<\/p>\n The agreement will see the full-back commit to Liverpool until 2030.<\/p>\n Medical scheduled<\/p>\n With an agreement reached, the full-back will now undergo a medical ahead of signing the paperwork on his move to the club.<\/p>\n It has, however, not been confirmed when the medical will be, although it is likely to be soon with Liverpool looking to get the deal done as soon as possible.<\/p>\n Transfer hint<\/p>\n Amid the talk over a move to Liverpool, Frimpong was not included in the Bayer Leverkusen squad<\/a> for the final Bundesliga match of the season on Saturday.<\/p>\n The German side drew 2-2 with FSV Mainz.<\/p>\n
