The country entered singer-songwriter and dancer Melody into the competition with an upbeat tune.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">However, despite the song being enjoyed by viewers across Europe, Spanish broadcasters ignored warnings from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). They displayed a statement ahead of the final, showing a black screen with white text in both Spanish and an English translation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The message read: &#8220;When human rights are at stake, silence is not an option. Peace and Justice for <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/palestine\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Palestine<\/a>.&#8221; The statement stayed on screen for 16 seconds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The broadcast on RTVE, the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/bbc\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC<\/a> equivalent in the country, was also posted on <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/twitter\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a>\/X. And the message quickly gained traction by social media users too.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_Screenshot-2025-05-17-at-113149PM-Largejpeg.jpg\" alt=\"Spain Eurovision\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Spanish broadcasters showed a political message(Image: X)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">There was controversy from the off after pro-Palestine protestors rallied to object to Israel&#8217;s inclusion in the competition. And there was more chaos following Israel&#8217;s performance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The country&#8217;s contestant was met with a mixed response from the audience. As Israel&#8217;s hopeful Yuval Raphael thanked viewers following her performance, UK commentator Graham Norton couldn&#8217;t help <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/tv\/tv-news\/breaking-israels-eurovision-star-dealt-35244220\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">but aim a jibe<\/a> at Switzerland and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Comedian Graham told UK viewers: &#8220;I&#8217;m not sure what you&#8217;re hearing at home, but it was a mixed response.&#8221; His blunt response came after the Eurovision Song Contest had been criticised after it reportedly covered the sounds of the audience booing the controversial entrant and adding fake applause.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_Switzerland-Eurovision-Song-Contest-25137706718298.jpg\" alt=\"Yuval Raphael from Israel perform at Eurovision\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Yuval Raphael from Israel perform at Eurovision(Image: AP)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Follow our <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/tv\/tv-news\/eurovision-song-contest-2025-live-35242921\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Eurovision Song Contest Live blog.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Reports suggested the competition&#8217;s bosses chose to drown out the sounds of booing from the arena. It came after her performance of New Day Will Rise during the rehearsal on Friday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">They released a statement regarding the crowd noise. It read: &#8220;For the Eurovision Song Contest, the host broadcaster SRG SSR is working with the &#8216;audio sweetening&#8217; method, which is common practice for major international productions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;This process helps to harmonise the sound of the transitions between moderations, video clips and the individual acts and to create a consistent soundscape for the TV audience. It is used exclusively for the technical rounding off of the programme.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;This process is used equally and identically for all acts. The competition and its results are not affected in any way.&#8221; Those watching at home quickly took to social media to comment on the mixed response after it aired.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">And two people in the arena also tried to disrupt the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/all-about\/Israel\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Israeli<\/a> performance. Two people attempted to rush the stage, organisers have said. A spokesman for SRG SSR revealed: \u201cAt the end of the Israeli performance a man and a woman tried to get over a barrier onto the stage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThey were stopped. One of the two agitators threw paint and a crew member was hit. The crew member is fine and nobody was injured.
