Other eligible phones can access the feature at any time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/android-17-stable-rollout-features-3675016\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stable release of Android 17<\/a> for Pixel devices last week, Google introduced a new-and-improved device transfer tool to make it easier to switch from iPhone to Android. Built in collaboration with Apple, the revamped <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/android-17-ios-android-switch-upgrade-3678451\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Android Switch<\/a> is built right into Android 17, letting users move more data from their old iPhone in a more seamless way, with our without a wired connection. Today, we\u2019re getting more info about what the upgraded feature can do and which devices can take advantage \u2014 and it turns out some Android 17 devices aren\u2019t supported.<\/p>\n<p>Google\u2019s Mishaal Rahman posted some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Android\/comments\/1v3fjf2\/switching_from_ios_is_now_even_easier_with_the\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">helpful new info about the new Android Switch on Reddit<\/a> this morning. Right now, the updated experience is available on Pixel 8, Pixel 9, and Pixel 10 series phones, as well as Samsung\u2019s new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-8-3687727\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Galaxy Z Flip 8<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-8-3688636\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Z Fold 8<\/a> phones. That means the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 can\u2019t take advantage, despite being eligible for the Android 17 update. That seems like a pretty minor omission; there probably aren\u2019t many users switching from an iPhone to a four- or five-year-old Android device.<\/p>\n<p>As explained by <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/android\/answer\/13626960#zippy=%2Cwhat-transfers-to-your-new-device%2Cwhat-wont-transfer-to-your-new-device%2Cuse-the-android-switch-app-to-transfer-without-a-cable%2Ccopy-data-from-your-old-phone-with-a-cable\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Google\u2019s support documentation<\/a>, the Pixel 8 only has access to Android Switch while you\u2019re setting up the phone. New support for transferring passkeys, eSIM data, and encrypted RCS messages seems especially handy.<\/p>\n<p>The updated Android Switch feature is available now on Pixel 8, 9, and 10 phones running Android 17, as well as the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for being part of our community.
