Melanie Brown<\/strong><\/a> escaped to the countryside for a quieter pace after years in the spotlight.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I bought the farm originally [in 2024], it was just a little barn that had no running water or electricity,\u201d Brown, 49, exclusively shared in the latest Us Weekly cover story<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Brown (known as Mel B) \u2014 who\u2019s sprawling 15-acre property is located in the Yorkshire countryside \u2014 now has three goats, chickens, ducks and two \u201cmassive\u201d Rottweilers. \u201cI just feel like sometimes animals are nicer than people,\u201d she quipped.<\/p>\n

The former Spice Girl<\/a> made sure to bring her 8-year-old \u201cemotional support\u201d Yorkshire terrier\u2013Chihuahua mix, Cookie, to her new property. \u201cShe shakes more than I shake, so who\u2019s supporting who?\u201d Brown joked.<\/p>\n

Brown, who opened up to Us about finding happiness again after a dark time, shared how she navigates her mental health struggles while in the public eye.<\/p>\n

\u201cI make sure I have my brain breaks where I go to Thailand by myself. I go up to my farm without my phone so my kids or fianc\u00e9 can\u2019t contact me unless they come all the way up to [a different] field,\u201d she said, referring to fianc\u00e9 Rory McPhee<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cI make space to be able to breathe and feel and sit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown noted that she\u2019s using her voice to help \u201cas many women as possible, especially survivors of abuse,\u201d as a patron for the domestic violence charity Women\u2019s Aid. (Brown shared in her 2018 memoir, Brutally Honest, that she attempted to take her own life four years prior.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m getting to know myself more and more, especially where I\u2019ve come from, feeling so unconfident and unworthy,\u201d Brown told Us. \u201cI\u2019ve managed to figure out my little road to a peaceful place.\u201d<\/p>\n
