A pedestrian was taken to hospital after being hit by a tram in Wythenshawe.<\/p>\n

It happened at the Benchill Metrolink stop, on Brownley Road, at around 6:45pm this evening (Friday, July 24).<\/p>\n

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) confirmed a tram collided with a pedestrian.<\/p>\n

An eyewitness said a number of ambulances, police vehicles and fire engines attended the scene.<\/p>\n

The Manchester Evening News understands the pedestrian were taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

No further details about them, including their age and gender, are yet to be confirmed.<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have been approached for comment.<\/p>\n

Trams were temporarily suspended on a stretch of the Manchester Airport line whilst emergency services dealt with the incident.<\/p>\n

A TfGM spokesperson said: \u201cEarlier this evening we responded to an incident involving a tram and a pedestrian at the Benchill station on the Airport Metrolink line, alongside emergency services.<\/p>\n

“Our thoughts are with those involved and we\u2019re looking into the circumstances of the collision.<\/p>\n
