Tej Lalvani, Theo Paphitis - (C) BBC - Photographer: Screen grab\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tTej during his time on the Den (Picture: BBC)<\/p>\n<p>Two years later, he joined <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/dragons-den\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dragons\u2019 Den<\/a> before eventually <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2021\/01\/28\/dragons-den-star-tej-lalvani-quits-as-series-is-confirmed-to-return-to-bbc-13980776\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stepping back from the show in 2021<\/a>, claiming he needed more time to focus on growing his various investments. <\/p>\n<p>During his time in the Den, Lalvani <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/05\/24\/dragons-den-stars-company-brutally-branded-delusional-worth-7-500-000-28501243\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">invested in multiple brands<\/a> including Thortful, an online marketplace for independent greeting card designers and War Paint For Men, a cosmetic brand tailored specifically for men. <\/p>\n<p><a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/10\/08\/dragons-den-company-now-worth-36-000-000-dragon-begged-invest-unmissable-opportunity-24371868\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Arguably, though, his biggest investment<\/a> was when he and fellow Dragon Jenny Campbell invested \u00a3130,000 in Look After My Bills.<\/p>\n<p>This company was an automatic energy-switching service that was later bought by GoCompare in 2019 for a reported \u00a38.5million.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"363\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/SEI_26108180-29cd.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-29220902\" alt=\"Programme Name: Dragons' Den - TX: 12\/08\/2018 - Episode: n\/a (No. 1) - Picture Shows: Tej Lalvani shows off his prowess on the guitar during a pitch, with Peter Jones listening. Their company was growing exponentially. They sought investment in the Den. We saw the potential. We invested.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The big boys in the market weren\u2019t able to ignore their progress. As the saying goes, if you can\u2019t beat them, join them.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, they were bought for \u00a38.5 million by the group behind GoCompare.com. They grew their idea and got sold to a giant.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018They\u2019ve managed to take their business full circle with some strategic guidance and investment from the Den.
