Leeds United<\/a> have left a final offer on the table for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles, and manager Tonda Eckert has acknowledged the speculation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Whites are in the thick of pre-season over in the US after last night\u2019s clash with Wrexham in Florida. In the meantime, every fan wants to know how the club intend to strengthen the squad.<\/p>\n

Fans eagerly await James Trafford updates, while Shea Charles\u2019<\/a> will he, won\u2019t he saga is proving more frustrating than the 49ers will have hoped.<\/p>\n

Tonda Eckert issues Shea Charles update after Leeds United\u2019s \u00a323million-plus ultimatum<\/p>\n

Leeds\u2019 three bids to sign the Northern Ireland international from Southampton have proven unsuccessful so far. Clearly, the 49ers believe that they are within a reasonable valuation for the 22-year-old midfielder, but Southampton are holding firm.<\/p>\n

The latest came from the YEP\u2019s Graham Smyth<\/a>, who reported that Leeds\u2019 most recent \u00a323million plus add-ons offer<\/a> will be our last. As a result, Leeds\u2019 stance is now at \u2018take it or leave it\u2019, giving Southampton time to mull over this ongoing saga.<\/p>\n

Charles was also subject to a \u00a324million approach from Fulham<\/a>, which was also knocked back.<\/p>\n

Now, Saints boss Tonda Eckert has answered a question regarding speculation on the midfielder. In which, he\u2019s very coy about Charles\u2019 potential transfer, instead just praising his professionalism despite the uncertainty.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s more a question for Johannes (Spors, sporting director),\u201d Eckert told the Daily Echo<\/a>. \u201cOn the back of the season that he\u2019s played, I think it\u2019s more than clear that there\u2019s interest. I\u2019m happy to have him around at the very moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can only say how well Shea is in the group and he\u2019s been excellent from the first day since he came back. I think he\u2019s shown today that he\u2019s on a good level to perform and I think the rest is for the club to sort.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Patience is key as Leeds United explore other priorities in Shea Charles impasse<\/p>\n

Charles is by no means a priority this summer. He would be adding further potential and depth to our already quite strong midfield.<\/p>\n

So, the fact this deal is dragging on doesn\u2019t make a difference to our other business. Since we made an opening offer for Charles, we\u2019ve signed Harry Wilson and Tarik Muharemovic, while setting sights on landing James Trafford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re clearly capable of spinning multiple plates, and Charles is one that can wait until Southampton possibly soften their stance.<\/p>\n

If they don\u2019t, he\u2019s not the only talented midfielder out there for us<\/a>.<\/p>\n
