An inquest into his death is due to be opened<\/p>\n

A man who died in a reservoir in Stockport has been named.<\/p>\n

Police were called to Sykes Reservoir, in Alexandra Park in Edgeley, at around 8:30pm on Thursday July 9 after the alarm was raised over a man getting into ‘difficulty in the water.’<\/p>\n

Emergency services including police, paramedics and fire crews all rushed to the scene with the reservoir and the area around it being cordoned off.<\/p>\n

Sadly a man’s body was recovered<\/a> a short time afterwards.<\/p>\n

He has now been named as 48-year-old Craig McCormick.<\/p>\n

The opening of an inquest into his death has been listed by Stockport Coroner’s Court.<\/p>\n

The hearing is due to take place on Friday.<\/p>\n

A number of tributes have been paid to Mr McCormick on social media.<\/p>\n

One friend said: “Thanks for the years of fun and laughter.” Adding: “Such a massive loss for all of us that knew him.”<\/p>\n

A second said: “Will be misseed pal. Can’t believe it.” A third added: “Rest in peace my brother.”<\/p>\n
