An emergency was declared aboard a Ryanair<\/a> aircraft shortly after it departed Birmingham Airport.<\/p>\n

Flight FR661 was en route to Dublin when a medical emergency is reported to have taken place.<\/p>\n

The aircraft – which took off from BHX at 8.37am on Sunday, July 26 – was subsequently granted priority landing clearance.<\/p>\n

The incident followed the crew transmitting emergency squawk code 7700 – the universal transponder code utilised by pilots to signal a general emergency, reports Birmingham Live<\/a>.<\/p>\n

AirLive trackers revealed that the aircraft was approximately 8,000 feet above the Irish Sea when the emergency code was broadcast.<\/p>\n

The plane subsequently touched down safely on Runway 28L at Dublin Airport roughly 40 minutes after leaving Birmingham.<\/p>\n
