Crystal Palace took encouragement from Manchester United\u2019s FA Cup triumph in 2024 as they beat Manchester City at Wembley.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saturday was a day that Crystal Palace fans will never forget after watching their club celebrate a major trophy, and third time lucky after losing two previous finals they have played in.<\/p>\n

Man City enjoyed phases of domination, but Eberechi Eze, who was previously linked with a move to Manchester United<\/a>, put Palace 1-0 up with the game\u2019s only goal in the 16th minute.<\/p>\n

Pep Guardiola\u2019s side had a chance to get back into the game when they were rewarded a penalty kick, after Tyrick Mitchell\u2019s sliding tackle took out Bernardo Silva inside the box. That was before former Manchester United<\/a> goalkeeper Dean Henderson<\/a> saved Omar Marmoush\u2019s spot kick.<\/p>\n

This meant that City have now lost the last two FA Cup<\/a> finals in a row, after losing 2-1 to United last year.<\/p>\n

A United side inspired by Erik ten Hag stunned City<\/a> after goals from Alejandro Garnacho<\/a> and Kobbie Mainoo<\/a> to seal a second trophy in as many years.<\/p>\n

This weekend meant another unhappy trip to London for City.<\/p>\n

Since leaving Manchester United in 2023 in search of regular football, Dean Henderson has won his first major trophy and it\u2019s one he will never forget.<\/p>\n

The former United stopper performed brilliantly at Wembley as he made multiple saves to prevent City from scoring in the FA Cup final.<\/p>\n

Henderson stopped a penalty from Marmoush to ensure Palace protected their 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n

However, he was involved in controversy after appearing to handle the ball outside the box.<\/p>\n

It looked like Henderson was facing a red card before being saved by a controversial VAR review.<\/p>\n

This incident led to a post-match clash with Guardiola, who waved his finger at the Palace keeper, who had clearly aggravated him.<\/p>\n

Speaking to broadcasters after the final, Henderson dedicated the win to his late dad, who passed away in July.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s why I left (Man Utd), it\u2019s what I set out to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut honestly I lost my dad at the start of the season and I\u2019ll miss him here today.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut he was with me every kick of the ball today and I dedicated that win to him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luke Shaw congratulates Henderson on FA Cup win<\/p>\n

Henderson was active on Instagram after winning the FA Cup.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old shared multiple pictures from Palace\u2019s big day out at Wembley, including one with the FA Cup trophy.<\/p>\n

Henderson shared a post using three emojis as the caption to suggest Palace are on top of the world after winning their first major trophy.<\/p>\n

This prompted several responses from players Henderson considered teammates at Old Trafford<\/a> such as David de Gea<\/a>, Luke Shaw<\/a> and Scott McTominay<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Shaw wrote: \u201cLove that brother.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a huge moment in Henderson\u2019s career. He hopes to experience more like it in the coming years.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
