NEW LONDON, WI \u2013 One person died following a fire at an apartment complex in New London on Sunday afternoon, according to the New London Police Department.<\/p>\n
Emergency crews were dispatched to Franklin Park Apartments, located at 505 Division Street, at approximately 2:37 p.m. after receiving reports of smoke coming from the building.<\/p>\n
Authorities confirmed that one resident was found dead at the scene. The victim\u2019s identity has not been released pending notification of family members.<\/p>\n
The fire prompted the evacuation of residents from the apartment complex. Several people have been displaced as a result of the incident and are receiving temporary housing assistance through the American Red Cross.<\/p>\n
Franklin Park Apartments is operated by the New London Housing Authority.<\/p>\n
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
